The100% sun ripened Italian tomatoes are harvested at the right stage and are processed with the most advanced technology to guarantee the best hygienic standards and quality by cutting the production time to a minimum and processing them with gentle and even heat to preserve their nutrients and natural goodness.

A touch of mediterranean sea salt enhances the unique flavour of this sauce.  

Passata Mutti is suitable for short cooking times or can be eaten cold. It withstands heat well therefore it can also be used for the preparation of slow cooking meals. 

About the producer:

Mutti’s long love story starts in 1899 in Parma, a town which lies in an area called the ‘Food Valley’, located in the Emilia Romagna region - north of Italy. Many worldwide known products come exactly from this small but wonderful Region (Parma ham, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, balsamic vinegar of Modena, just to mention a few). 

Giovanni Mutti, the founder, was a farmer ahead of his time in his use of the sidereal system, which is also used these days in organic farming. After many experiments, Giovanni managed to innovate it by introducing the crop rotation technique. This allowed the soil to recover its nutrients while cutting down the need for natural and chemical fertilisers.

120 years later, Mutti still grows their tomatoes in the very same land, with the main variety being the ‘Rotondo di Parma’, keeping the same identical values: quality, transparency and reliability and even though they are working with over 400 farmers, they know each others names – as they are part of a family.

They constantly work together and try to further develop their farms with the use of innovative systems, in order to improve their irrigation techniques to save both water and energy, protect the environment while still obtaining the best product they possibly can. 

Our recommendation:

Passata Mutti gives a superb flavour to pasta sauces, eggs, and white meats. 

Fantastic for Bolognese sauce, tomato soup, Pizza or even a Bloody Mary!
